About NazmIQ

NazmIQ is built by Khalid Selim, who has spent thirty years buying for construction projects across Egypt, Qatar and Saudi Arabia. The software does the job he did by hand for most of that time.

Thirty years of the same afternoon

Comparing supplier quotations is not a hard problem to describe. Several suppliers send prices for the same package, in their own formats, in their own order, with their own line descriptions — and someone has to turn that into one sheet on which the numbers can honestly be set beside each other. That someone retypes the lines, aligns descriptions that do not match, converts currencies, applies tax consistently, chases the items one supplier quietly left out, and only then finds out who is actually cheapest.

On a large project that afternoon repeats every week, package after package. The work that decides the award — noticing that the lowest bidder is lowest because they priced less of the scope — sits at the end, when everyone is tired.

Where the method came from

The projects behind the method are large ones, where getting a package wrong is expensive and the paperwork has to survive being questioned later:

That experience is why the product behaves the way it does: it levels scope gaps instead of ignoring them, computes every total in code rather than asking a model to do arithmetic, declines to rank when there is no honest total to rank on, and records where each figure came from — because on projects like these, being asked to justify an award six months later is routine, not a hypothetical.
